eCMR: a solution for digitizing consignment notes with handwriting recognition

THE PROJECT

The e-CMR project aims to modernize the use of consignment notes (CMRs) by integrating handwriting recognition, combined with CAN bus and GPS data, to optimize fleet management, while complying with European regulations without changing user habits.

This system allows for automatic encoding of CMR information, ensures full traceability, and sends data directly to the carrier’s headquarters. It cross-references this data with other vehicle-related data, thus offering benefits such as preventive maintenance, fast invoicing, and monitoring of driver behavior quality.

The project has already achieved several major technical milestones, notably the completion of the data collection and transmission scheme from the driver to the planning and invoicing software. Additionally, some of the technologies developed in the project, such as the digital tablet for drivers, have found applications in other sectors that require handwritten data entry.
